New Belfast bar to open in Cathedral Quarter in time for the Fleadh

A new bar is coming to Belfast City Centre’s Cathedral Quarter. 

The new bar will be located at 11-17 Donegall Street and will be open for the duration of the annual Irish arts festival Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (Sunday 2nd to Sunday 9th August)

The Fleadh is an eight-day celebration of Irish music and culture, showcasing traditional music talent competitors from all over the world with concerts, competitions, street sessions, cultural activities, marching bands, exhibitions, Irish language events, and more. 

Named The Donegal Belfast, the venue will feature three bars, a “huge” beer garden, a food truck, live music, and Irish dancers.

A seven-day annual outdoor entertainment licence was granted for the bar, which takes over a former warehouse building that has long been vacant. The site was previously an Eason & Son. It is currently being developed to include outdoor entertainment spaces.

Remaining open after the Fleadh festival, the venue has proposed to provide outdoor music entertainment from Monday to Saturday from midday to 11pm, and 12:30pm to 10:30pm on Sundays. 

The Donegal Belfast is set to open in early August at 11-17 Donegall Street in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.
