Manchester's White Hotel to stay open under new ownership

After a shock announcement in May that the well-loved Salford venue The White Hotel was to close in the new year, a cryptic Instagram post from the organisers behind neighbouring venue, The Bag Factory, has revealed that the iconic club is set to live on. Under their management and in collaboration with Strange Art Collective CIC, this Manchester underground staple will reopen in 2027 under a new name: Bastion.

Known for its gritty, damp interior and hosting events from experimental live folk performances to intimate, intense, night-long tech raves, the announcement of The White Hotel's closure - due to seemingly unfixable water damage - came as a massive shock to those not only in the Manchester music scene, but to underground enthusiasts across the country. Since then, raving regulars made it their mission to make the most of the last few months and see the club off in style. 

Thankfully, it seems the former car repair garage in industrial Salford still has a fighting chance. It seems a lot is under wraps at the moment, with the Bag Factory's particularly mysterious post stating, "The underground has a new stronghold. The gates open 2027. More soon."

Well, "more soon" is definitely what we'll be waiting for.
