Another big announcement in... Chibuku and Abandon Silence have finally revealed their line up for 2013's New Year's Eve double collaboration. And it was well worth the wait, as they bring in two of the dominating names of 2013's year, Rudimental and Annie Mac, to spearhead a typically big and bolshy bill.
Rudimental return for the first time since their apocalyptic debut last NYE, and what a year they've had since. Debut album Home has cemented their place in the affections of the hearts of electronic music lovers in the UK, their heady mix of bass music, rave textures and classic songwriting crafting a sumptuous sound that has made them darlings of both the casual fan and dance music lover.
They'll be delivering a DJ set which will showcase the depth to which their sound runs, running amok through drum and bass, dubstep, house and all the dots in between. It's a eclectic soundscape matched by their partner in crime for the evening and one of their earliest champions, the indomitable Annie Mac.
If any DJ has summarised Chibuku's magpie musical ethos in the past few years, it's been Annie. Since first appearing at the club back in 2005 she has gone onto become a defining component of the club's history. As her love of music has evolved from electro, drum and bass and breaks to incorporate dubstep, house, bass music and so much more, her canny ability to shift tempos and textures throughout the pulse of electronic music has endeared her to the Chibuku faithful like few others. We can't think of two better artists to kiss goodbye to 2013 in the East Village Arts Club.
As well as the immediacy of these doyens, there's room for more nuanced sounds in the shape of Krystal Klear, the producer who's canny ear for a hook borders on genius. This doubles up with a DJing prowess that showcases the oomph and swing of classic 90s house with a refreshingly modern twist, showcasing him as much more of a revivalist (check the above mix for a flavour of his grooves).
Abandon Silence will also be in tow bringing their futuristic explorations of all things bass, with their residents Andrew Hill, Harry Sheerhan and the man that stands tall in both camps, Rich Furness (check the latter's mix for us here). As is tradition, a selection of both club's friends will also play, including former Skiddle interviewee Holly Lester, Or:La, Tom Davies and Make No Sense DJs.
