Birmingham juggernauts The Rainbow Venues branch out from their usual rave fuelled escapades, bringing much acclaimed hip hop artist and poet Kate Tempest to the venue on Wednesday 11th February.
After starting out at 16 rapping to strangers on night buses and pestering promoters to get on the mic, the multi-talented Kate Tempest is now a published playwright, novelist poet and coveted music artist.
She has been consistently selling out shows left right and centre, as well as ensnaring a nomination for this year's looming Mercury Music Prize (check 'The Beigeness', below, to see why).
Her mind blowing live performance are on a different level to your usual MC, combining indomitable word play with tremendous character. She commands the mic with poetic wizardry of such elegance it's not hard to see why she's in such high demand at a youthful age.
These magnificent qualities are well documented in her debut album Everybody Down, a sublime long player that explores every stretch of her linguistic scope.
The release was celebrated by a one off London gig that housed the likes of Frank Ocean and Rick Rubin, and if the rave reviews of that are anything to go by then attendees of this gig are sure to witness something special.
