Arctic Monkeys might be back soon! But what will the new album sound like?

Every time Arctic Monkeys release a new album it's an occasion, the hype is incredible and it shows just how universally they are loved across the world. The Sheffield boys have done good, rising quickly from a small indie band to one of the biggest bands in the world. The tales of nights out on earlier albums such as Everything People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, were later swapped out for rock and roll bravado on AM.

Their last album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino caused quite a stir. Fans of the hooks of old and the laddish charm of earlier albums felt let down as here was Alex Turner sat at the piano talking about the moon's side boob. Yet others would argue that this was a transition that the band would always make and Tranquility Base & Casino showed a band ageing finely and striding into even greater creative territory.

So the question lingers, what will the next Arctic Monkeys album sound like? Will they suddenly return to hook-heavy rock and roll? Let's be honest, that is unlikely, what we expect is a band who want to mature even further and Alex Turner will be shaping a whole new world in his lyrics. Maybe they'll even double down on tweed jackets.

The wait for a new Arctic Monkeys may not be too long now as Matt Helders has revealed that the band have "pretty much" finished their latest effort which we can probably expect to see in 2022. We can't wait to see which direction Arctic Monkeys move in next and we're sure we'll be seeing them on the road soon.
