Stuck for something to do this weekend? Fear not, there’s plenty of last minute options to consider to spin the next few days into something that little bit more memorable. Here’s the rundown…

Kendal Calling

The Lake District this weekend will feel the force of Basement Jaxx, Public Enemy and loads more as Kendal Calling returns. Kendal Calling epitomises the plucky underdog of the Festival season, year on year dropping line-ups which belie their small size.

As you’d expect from a Lake District location it’s a gorgeous environment to find yourself in, and as last year’s review proves, an enchanting experience. Head here to check out our analysis of the Glow Arena where the high octane raving will be taking place, and you can purchase the final few tickets left for the festival here.

The Wickerman Festival

Okay we admit we’re biased, but we really do love the Wickerman. A homage of sorts to the cult film starring Christopher Lee, the festival has been a big part of our personal calendar and is set in one of the most breath-taking locations you can experience music in.

This year we’ve got Greg Wilson in our Basscamp tent (check the brilliant mix he did for us here), whilst the disco theme is continued by headliners Chic. On top of that there is Primal Scream, KT Tunstall and Public Service Broadcasting and plenty more. If you do grab a ticket as well make sure you come and say hello.

Global Gathering

On a completely different tip is Global Gathering, which will once again be delivering its trademark full on spectacular of electronic music over the course of the weekend. They’ve got everything electronic imagainable catered for, including Example’s poppy bass music, Jamie Jones’ sex drenched house and the euphoric trance of Ferry Corsten.

Since starting twelve years ago the event has become one of the most cherished on the festival circuit and for those wanting a burst of dance music at its best, difficult to be topped. Tickets go off sale for that one late on Wednesday… be quick.

Secert Garden Party

Also about to go off sale very soon is Secret Garden Party. Arguably the nation’s premier boutique festival, SGP is loved for the sheer scale of detail that goes into making it memorable, with a delightful series of arenas and realms which really do transport you into another world, as exemplified by the video below.

Bastille, 2ManyDJs, David Rodigan and much, much more await you musically, but this one’s all about the effortless charm that radiates form everywhere. Head here for tickets, and also check out our latest podcast which boasts a mix from SGP’s Head Gardener.

Content

And finally, if you’re close to Manchester you can witness a bit of clubbing history as Content close the door on their time at Joshua Brooks on Friday with a three hour set from Josh Wink. The party has become pretty much synonymous with the intimate venue over the past few years and the old adgae of all things must come to an end rings true as they call time on their successful residency there.

They’re going out with a bang by bringing in the Philadelphia native for his second performance, and you can read the interview with the headliner Josh Wink here. We’re sure there won’t be a dry eye in the house.
