Dorset is proving to be the place to be this summer, as Camp Bestival’s family festival / holiday extravaganza picks up the pace with yet another slew of eclectic lineup announcements.
Lulworth Castle will play host to Take That’s very own Mark Owen! The huge pop star is a welcome addition to an impressive lineup that already contains the likes of Labrinth, Richard Hawley, Levellers, Ash, The Proclaimers, Horrible Histories, Mr Tumble, Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo, Alan Davies, Dick n Dom, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures The Brit School and many more!
With this year’s list of events and treats in store for festival goers getting longer and longer, there is genuinely something for everyone at Camp Bestival 2013, and the arrival of Mark Owen will fit this philosophy perfectly.
Watch: Mark Owen's new single 'Stars'
With a glittering musical career that has stretched across 20 years, Mark Owen has become one of the best known pop stars in British history. Surely the soundtrack of many a girls night out, Take That have certainly, at one point or another, held a place in the hearts of most women in the country. In the words of the Camp Bestival Crew: “we know how much fun a ladies night out is, so we’re very pleased to announce Mark Owen is coming to Lulworth Castle this year, especially for the girls!" The organizers at Camp Bestival are clearly preparing for a mega ladies night out on Saturday August 3rd, as Mark will be playing not only his new and much loved solo material from forthcoming album ‘The Art of Doing Nothing’ , but also a tantalising selection of Take That anthems too.
It’s not just Mark Owen that has been announced though, there will be appearances from Memphis based Valerie June, who for some time now has been stunning crowds with her own unique blend of folk, blues, gospel, soul, and bluegrass music, all held together with her simply cracking voice.
There will also be live appearances from unique solo acoustic artist Cherishport, Dorset blues behemoth Red River Hogs, scrumpy & western phenomenon Skimmity Hitchers and New Forest duo Phil & Tilley.
For the dance lineup, we have the likes of The Nextman, Venum Sound, MC Wrec, Russ Cuban, Dick Curtaine, Rev Milo, Speed wagon, Rowan Cernin, In Light Of Aquarius and Shepdog joining the already announced big hitters Sasha, Grandmaster Flash, and Andrew Weatherall.
With tonnes organized for kids and adults alike, the largest and most charismatic family festival on the calendar - Camp Bestival is looking pretty unbeatable yet again this year.
