Brockwell Live, the organisers behind festivals like Field Day, Wide Awake, and Mighty Hoopla, have confirmed that all events in their upcoming series will go ahead as planned, despite a High Court ruling last Friday placing their status in jeopardy.

Ahead of a busy period which will see Wide Awake, Field Day, Project 6, and Mighty Hoopla taking over south London’s Brockwell Park from 23rd May to 8th June, the organisers have quelled concerns following the court ruling on Friday 16th May brought on by local residents group Protect Brockwell Park.
The residents group set up a fundraiser to trigger a judicial review of Lambeth Council’s approval to hold events in Brockwell Park, citing “unlawful” granting of licenses. The judge ruled in favour of Protect Brockwell Park, surmising that using areas of the park as events space for more than 28 days was “irrational”.
The ruling triggered concerns over the status of Brockwell Live’s upcoming events, with Night Time Industries Association CEO Michael Kill calling the legal battle “emblematic of a much deeper crisis facing our cultural and events landscape.” Despite this, the events firm took to social media to confirm that all events in the series are to go ahead as planned.

Brockwell Live stated on their Instagram that “Friday’s High Court ruling dealt with a particular point of law and whether an administrative process had been carried out correctly. We wish to make it clear that no event will be cancelled as a result of the High Court’s decision. We take our stewardship of Brockwell Park seriously. As we prepare to deliver these much-loved, culturally significant events, we remain fully committed to its care, upkeep, and long-term wellbeing. With setup nearly complete, we look forward to opening the gates and welcoming festival goers later this week.”
Their events season will kick off as planned, with Wide Awake set to welcome Kneecap, CMAT, English Teacher, and more to south London this Friday.
