The Great Escape (TGE) is a new music festival that showcases emerging artists from all over the world. Over 450 up and coming bands play in 30+ Brighton venues, accessible on one wristband. It’s the first place to discover your new favorite band and see them in an intimate setting before they go on to headline major festival stages.

TGE is also attended by the music industry who are on the hunt for the next big thing. We run a convention alongside the gigs featuring insightful panels, topical debates, keynote speeches and networking opportunities in abundance.

The Alternative Escape, our Brighton Dome Shows, secret gigs, club nights and spontaneous collaborations all add the festivities and make this weekend in Brighton one not to miss.

History of The Great Escape

2006 was the first ever year of the festival and people who attended the three day festival enjoyed many top acts of the time including the now split Still Remains, instrumentalists 65daysofstatic and prog rock giants Devil Sold His Soul. Home grown Brighton talent included British Sea Power doing not only one but two gigs, one of them being an acoustic set and also Brighton metalcore act Johnny Truant.

All of these acts played amoungst many other up and coming talented local and international bands and artists from around the world that makes this festival so unique. Kerrang! Magazine sponsored the festival and thanks to them acts like The Academy Is... and Still Remains played together for the first and only time in their careers, at the legendary Concorde 2 venue.
