Don’t let her delicate voice trick you, Nadia Sheikh definitely knows how to rock out. On her way to make a mark on the British music scene, Nadia is one to watch.
The London based artist combines indie, rock and pop with folky and jazzy vocals creating a characteristic and unique sound that she showcases in her original songs. Quirky melodies and catchy choruses with incredibly insightful lyrics.
With an impressive cultural background, the half British, half Spanish artist has the power to captivate you with her haunting voice. “Nadia’s voice sets the audience into motion, with exciting vocal riffs and impressive range that shows depth and maturity” – LIVAMP, 2015.
2013 saw the release of her debut EP “50 feet” produced by Grammy Award wining producer Nigel Walker (Elton John, Paul McCartney…). The six original songs had a great welcoming from Spanish and British press and public, with blogs such as Backseat Mafia covering the release: “…there’s plenty to enjoy about her songwriting in 50 Feet, and her smokey vocal, which hints towards a folkier, indie-r Joss Stone, it’s lovely.”.
After a short trip to London in which Nadia immersed herself in the city’s live music circuit, she fell in love with it and decided to move to the capital. She has since performed in some of the city’s top venues such as the Borderline, Proud Camden, Cargo, the Bedford, Upstairs at the Garage, the Water Rats…as well as landing a slot to support the Dire Straits Experience, leadered by Chris White of the Dire Straits.
In 2016 and 2017, Nadia released two singles: ‘Flip the Coin’ and ‘No. 24’, produced by Danny Schogger (Sam Brown, Paul Young…), as well as a live acoustic performance of her song ‘Redemption’, gaining attention from the media and getting airplay from BBC Introducing London, Radio 3 (Spain) and RTE2 (Ireland), amongst others.
At the end of December 2017, Nadia was named as one of This Feeling’s ‘Big in 2018’ picks, performing at the ‘Big in 2018’ gig at The Monarch in Camden.
As well as her own original music, Nadia has also been involved in collaborations with other artists, the latest being with Jamie Morrison (Pop Morrison and drummer in Stereophonics).
Her latest single ‘Going Down’ was released on 26th January 2018.
“A melting pot of unique and folksy balladry, Nadia Sheikh is a genre chameleon with a voice that warms the soul” – Fred Perry Subculture
