York Dungeon Standard Admission at York Dungeon takes you through 2,000 years of York’s darker history with live actors, immersive sets and special effects. The experience brings together the city’s murky past in a walk-through attraction designed to be seen, heard and, as the source describes it, smelled.

Along the way, you encounter the Vikings and learn about their Saxon enemies, then meet some of York’s best-known historical figures, including Guy Fawkes and Isabella Billington. The experience also covers the Black Death and the torture chamber, presenting York’s history through live scenes and character-led storytelling.

The attraction is pitched as a mix of history, horror and humour, with the chance to move through York’s “'orrible” past at close quarters.
