Review of Monster Country Festival - Cheshire

Prices were extortionate for a family. Music was good but there were too many gaps between sets and a dj would of been good, or at least a playlist ready.

Most of the music acts didn't even perform. The event was supposed to end at 10pm but finished at 8:30pm. There were very limited drink stalls charging a whopping £7 for a can of Inches/red stripe or similar cheaper brands of larger/cider which both ran out of the majority of choices by 6:30pm. 
Overall so much more could have been done easily to make this a far better event

I attended the music festival for my son's third birthday, and overall, the day a mix of emotions. The event had so much potential, and we'd love to go again next year if some key issues are addressed.

​*The Good*

​The atmosphere was truly amazing. The crowd was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, and it was great to see so many people embrace the theme by dressing up. The line dancing was a highlight, bringing everyone together for some lighthearted fun. The musical acts were also hugely talented, putting on fantastic performances that had everyone singing along.

*​Areas for Improvement*

​While the entertainment was good, the event felt like a major money trap, particularly regarding food and drink. With no outside food or drinks allowed, we were at the mercy of the vendors. The options were extremely limited; as a vegan, there was nothing exciting for me, and the choices were basic for everyone else. Waiting over an hour for a burger and two chips in the scorching sun, only to be charged £30, felt excessive. It was also frustrating to see the queues for food vendors cut right through the crowds trying to enjoy the performances. The prices for attractions, like the monster truck ride at £10 per person regardless of age, also felt steep.

​The lack of shaded areas was a serious concern, especially on such a hot day. Everyone was exposed to the sun for hours with no relief. The refusal to allow personal water bottles, or to provide free drinking water, was baffling and frankly, irresponsible.
​A significant issue was the location of facilities. Having all the toilets near the entrance was a bizarre decision. It created a long, inconvenient trek for anyone in the main event area. The long and slow-moving queues were also a constant frustration. While I understand the staff were probably frazzled by the heat and the crowds, some were lovely but then there were a few WITH a unfriendly demeanor, which was a letdown.

​Unfortunately, our experience with the security team was hit or miss. The security staff in black were friendly and welcoming, but those in gray were rude and seemed annoyed to be there. We were even yelled at for parking in a spot with no clear signage, which was a very jarring way to start our day. A staff member from a vendor ultimately saved the day by letting my three-year-old son use a staff toilet after an unhelpful security guard refused, which I found to be a shocking lack of empathy.

​*Final Thoughts*

​With some better planning, this event could be truly incredible. Better-placed vendors with more diverse food options (tacos, barbecue, and better burgers with more choices would be great!), toilets closer to the main stage, and strategic shaded areas would dramatically improve the experience. A friendlier, more customer-focused security team would also make a huge difference.

​If you are able to review your prices and allow guests to bring in their own water or even picnic hampers, it would go a long way to making this feel less like a money-making exercise and more like a community event.

​We really enjoyed the music and the fun, and we hope these changes are considered for next year. We'd love to come back and celebrate my son's next birthday with you (and even bring more people with us) , but a few tweaks would make it a much more pleasant experience for everyone.

Overpriced stalls, food and drink. Queued 1.5 foe a drink for it to be sold out when I finally reached the bar. 2hr queue for food. Stage music was quiet compared to theme park ride behind us which was blaring. Acts were poor, barely anything modern. Kids sang on the mic more than the act. Any bad comments by all the customers on Facebook get deleted by the event page. Absolute con. Waste of money and time

So having turned up a little early (11.30am) gate didn't open till midday, bag search done easy walk to the main stage area, found a good spot then preceded to the bar to get a drink, small que of about 5 minutes, this was the shortest time that we were queuing because after that the ques got very long, 55 minutes the next time i visited the bar, the ques for the food were just as bad if not longer. Need more vendors or allow food to be taken in. 

The sound from the stage was excellent, loud and clear.
Things that could do with addressing
More food and drink outlets, maybe some vendors selling merchandise
A compare on the stage introducing the acts and advertising who's on and when, also the line dance tuition in between the acts needs work ( more than 1 dance).

It was a very hot day so maybe the bars were overwhelmed but i dont think so.

We left early as the que for the food and drinks were toooo long, apart from this it was a great day and i would certainly attend again

Really cheap tick*ts for a full day out! However Not enough drink stalls considering it's summer. The wait times for everything was ridiculous. Prices for drinks and food are a little bit overpriced for what they are, I understand they need to make money. However I realised they added on money afterwards to my bill. Could have been more tribute acts like Luke combs Morgan wallen Kelsea ballerina etc, or at least music played in between each act. Little line dancing sessions were good but they only did one each time. More seating would have been ideal for those that forgot chairs and blank*ts etc. or they could have hired them out cheap. Only one tribute act offered to get pictures. They had monster truck rides which were maybe 2 mins for £10 pp, waltzers, hook a duck, little car rides which for little ones. Pick n mix stall and a big ride for the older ones
