Review of Art Battle Manchester XXI - Daub The Docks
Normally we absolutely love the event and would definitely recommend and book the next art battle. This time, however, the venue was really bad. Art battle doesnt work if the stage is not in the centre. It doesnt work if people cannot move freely around the artists. I bet more than half of the people did not see the art being created. Very bad decision to put the stage by the wall.

The standard of artwork keeps getting better, every time I go to Art Battle, and last night was no exception! It was my first time in Media City and was taken back by grandeur of the place. Of course, had to have selfies with the Corrie Street and EastEnders props.

I've been to an art battle before and this was the wrong venue for the format, completely. Very difficult to view the artworks.
I was told no cloakroom, and it was an exceptionally rainy day so risked my coat tucked away somewhere.
Went to the food van toward end of night and had no vegetarian options left which was disappointing but I suppose can't be helped. More veggie options.
Otherwise, did really love the event. Love the art battles and the MC was great, stalls and staff friendly etc...

Review of Art Battle Manchester XXI - Daub The Docks
Enjoy Art Battle, love that it's put on in different locations each time, but this one really needed to be a bit better thought out. All the artists in a line, at ground level, then a balcony overlooking that was full, sounds OK, but it was hard to see the action asit happened. It is obvious it'll be a problem to see for a sizeable number of people. We gave up in the end and waited until they'd be completed. It feels there's a level of laziness to the thought on how to set up for everyone to see. There is an element of boredom and cynicism to how its delivered and how they're hosted., too Perhaps they're a bit too often. I'll certainly skip for a while. Love the idea, just feels that they're a bit staid and lacking new thought

Review of Art Battle Manchester XXI - Daub The Docks
The artists really made this event! They were amazing and so was the host.
However this could have been much better. It was difficult to see the art work, that was the main event. It would have been much better if the platform the artists were in was a lot more elevated (it was just about a step) and/or if it was being live transmitted with a screen on top of them to allow better visibility.
The microphone sound was not great either, good thing the host made up for it in enthusiasm. Very limited choice of food for a 7pm to 11pm event as opposed to plenty of drink options.

Review of Art Battle Manchester XXI - Daub The Docks
Great event could have had better food and drink options and the crowds didn’t want to move giving other people a chance to see the art. Was better at the Stockport event where everyone has to keep circling the artist meaning everyone got a better chance of viewing the art. Commercial beer and cheap wine were a let down. Lots of good wine and local ale was glugged at the Stockport event. Hotdogs are a naff option also. The competition itself is a good night out tho

An amazing night yet again! Great entertainment, fantastic art and great atmosphere. Good selection of food and drinks and reasonable prices. And what a venue.

So remember this is a charity event. It was interesting but was a lost opportunity. It could have been better with more of everything: street food, street artists, visual entertainment. We couldn’t see the live artists faces and at a venue that has a multitude of cameras, it couldn’t have been that hard to set up some cameras and steamed the artists and their artwork onto large screens instead of jostling for a place in the crowd.
The best thing by far was Wilf’s street art which I hope he’ll sell to me!

Art battles always a good night out, moving venues makes it interesting, however thought this venue was less successfuL as no circular stage to keep crowd moving and harder to watch artists at work.

Would have been better with a venue that allowed artists to paint in a circle with viewers all around. Possibly have screens showing the artists working as you couldn't always see them. More food choices.
