Preston has some of the best pubs in the North West. The most popular for students is the Adelphi at the top of Friargate, a large and busy student pub with a good heated beer garden. Every Thursday they host 'Quids'. Basically a huge variety of alcohol on offer for just £1. Entry is £1 too but get there early as it's usually packed! From there you can head down the road on a crawl via the Lamb and Packet, Roper Hall and Greyfriars before checking out the string of trendy bars that line the street towards town such as Cafe Manyana, The Academy, Reflex (80's pub/club) and Assembly.

If you want to see top bands perform then there are two great venues for you. 53 Degrees at the Uni is hosting The Pigeon detectives, Professor Green amongst many others. You also need to get to the incredibly popular Mad Ferret, just opposite 53 Degrees. They host regular live band nights as well as open mic nights too. Preston has a load of great nightclubs but we may as well start with the one you’ll be chanting the name and falling down the steps of come the end of your Freshers’ week – Roper Hall. A favourite amongst students and regulars, Roper is cheap, cheerful and fun, playing some great music and the only place to meet your fellow student pals.
If you fancy a more traditional, town centre club then try Squires New York New York, or Lava & Ignite, both modern, popular clubs with plenty of floors and lots of great music played by some top DJ’s. Or try Warehouse on St John’s Place. Three floors of popular Indie and rock music that make it Preston’s best alternative nightclub, once favoured by Joy Division. Get there before 11 on a Friday and Saturday if you like your music “Up to 11” loud.
You also need to get to the newly opened Exit, just off Friargate. Fridays will be home to bassmusic, beats, & soundsystem culture. Look out for DROP & more regular Friday nights with special guests each & every week from the worlds of Dubstep, UK Bass, 2-Step, Jungle, DnB + beyond! Saturdays will be home to house vibes & four-to-the-floor grooves. Look out for Beats of Rage, For No Reason, Green & more with special guests each & every week from the worlds of House, Techno, Electro, Disco, UK Bass + beyond!
