Last year we threw an intimate party for friends and people we knew, to hang out and listen to funky music in the sunshine. We wanted to create an inclusive space where a diverse mix of people could feel safe and escape from the outside world for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. Apart from setting off the fire alarm with the smoke machine and evacuating the building for twenty minutes (lesson learned) the event went off without a hitch and everyone had a lovely time.

This year we are returning to throw three parties at one venue over the course of the year. The aim is to grow and learn as we develop to be the most inclusive party we can be. Arts, music and creative scenes are flourishing in Preston and although we have friends from a range of different backgrounds theres not really been a space for us to let our hair down and dance in an environment where we all feel safe together, this is why we decided to make our own.

Everyone is welcome at Sexy Woke Disco Club - whether you're black, white, gay, straight, trans, cis, 20 or 120, we're just here to have a good time and make friends.We want our events to be a safe space for everyone. Whether it's the way you look, the way you dress, or the way you choose to identify, everybody should feel welcome in our house.

The events are digital detox, phones will have stickers placed on the camera to encourage people to live in the moment. Digital cameras are welcome. Our lineups will be local and actively diverse, challenging industry statistics. We will be using Serenity security who manage many venues in Manchesters gay village and we have a care team on hand to make you feel welcome.
