neu waves presents #144 at The Deco, sponsored by Southsea Sound
Soft / Morgan Noise / Van Gosh
// Soft //
Soft are an alternative rock quintet from South London, known for their noisy textures and unforgettable stage presence. Their shows are so energetic that one was almost shut down within minutes. So far Soft have sold out several chaotic gigs at the Windmill and other London venues, featured on BBC Radio 6 and supported the likes of Fat Dog and Deadletter. They are set this year to spread their intricately crushing sound throughout Europe.
// Morgan Noise //
Morgan Noise create worlds within their music: combining jazz sensibilities and alternative experiments with a singer-songwriter flair. All of the musicians involved in the project have a jazz background and they met playing in the scene around that. Being improvising musicians is important to how these songs flex and grow.
They are bringing a limited edition duo set to neu waves, the most recent outing of which was for IVW. This consists of Sam Hollis on double bass and tape delay, and Morgan on vocals, tape delay, and saxophone. The physical tape delay lets the audience watch the tape spin round and round and be manipulated in real time.
Influenced by the sonic landscapes of Saya Gray, Niufer Yanya, and Astrid Sonne - Morgan Noise artfully bridges complex feelings with sonic precision, lyrical nuance, and artistic clarity.
Previous activities include playing at Greenman festival, and a live session for Riley and Coe. Having toured around the UK in December 2025 supporting Porridge Radio, they hope to release their debut album this spring/ summer.
An album inspired by the early years of your twenties, and the experience of touring during that time
// Van Gosh //
Internationally renowned gag based glam rockers Van Gosh really do put the 'fun' in refund! Have you ever wondered what way of preparing a potato is hierarchically superior? Have you ever fallen in love at the fresh fish counter at your local supermarket? Do you actually know the rules of chess? You do?! Well then stay at home you legend and let the others enjoy a modest amount of musical fun and the odd conscientious mic drop....
