A million pound project to refurbish a Grade II listed building in Portsmouth, The Astoria Nightclub launched in September 2013.
Designed by Victorian Architect Arthur Edward Cogswell, the former Palace Cinema in Portsmouth is a Grade II listed building. Located in the centre of Portsmouth, which today has been re-named Guildhall Walk, the Palace Picture House opened in 1921 with King Solomon’s Mines.
After closing it’s doors as a cinema in 1981 the space was converted into a nightclub. Following decades of neglect by various corporate franchises the building was given the green light for a full restoration and refurbishment in the summer of 2013.
