About

Without doubt Cambridgeshire #1 Modern Classic Rock band!!

In an era where rock music continues to evolve, Austin Gold stands as a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of authentic, guitar-driven sound with a modern edge. The English quartet-comprised of David James Smith (lead vocals & guitar), Adam Leon (keys & backing vocals), Lee Churchill (bass guitar), and James Pepper (drums & backing vocals)-has carved out a distinctive niche in the rock landscape, earning them critical acclaim and a devoted following.

The Journey

Since their formation, Austin Gold has been on a remarkable trajectory, with each release marking a significant milestone in their artistic evolution. Their 2017 debut album, "Before Dark Clouds," introduced the world to their dynamic sound, garnering immediate attention from rock aficionados and critics alike. They followed this with a powerful self-titled mini-album in 2019, showcasing their growing confidence and sonic maturity.

2022 saw the release of "Those City Lights," which propelled the band to new heights, reaching number 23 in the UK Rock & Metal chart. The album's lead single "Mountain" secured daytime playlist status on Planet Rock Radio, expanding their reach to rock fans nationwide.

Breaking New Ground

Austin Gold's ascent reached new peaks in October 2024 with the release of "Ain't No Saint," their most accomplished work to date. The album rocketed to number 7 in the UK Rock & Metal Chart, while also claiming impressive positions in the Official Album Download Chart (#18) and Independent Album Chart (#32)-firmly establishing them as one of the UK's premier rock acts.

The album made significant waves in rock media, with two songs nominated for Classic Rock Magazine's prestigious 'Track Of The Week.' The standout track 'Not Enough' was featured in the magazine's Hot Picks segment and later selected as one of their top tracks of the year, further cementing the band's growing influence in the rock community.

SPECIAL GUESTS  - RJ ARCHER & THE PAINFUL MEMORIES

RJ Archer & the Painful Memories Biography

“..If you like it tough, brash, concise, focused and punchy then check this out”!   - Blues in Britain magazine, December 2026

R.J. Archer & the Painful Memories were formed in 2019 when Richard Archer (guitar, vocals) received a competition prize of some studio time and recruited long-term friends to help him out with the recordings. The results were so good, they decided to carry on!!

Two albums down the road (‘Hot Mess’ in 2021 and 'Horseplay!' in 2023) and critical comparisons were being drawn to everyone from MC5 to Grand Funk Railroad to Dr.Feelgood. With acclaimed sets at the Cambridge Salty Dog Festival, NFest and Buckfest, plus support slots with cult rock bands like Slady and Gypsy’s Kiss they've earned a reputation as a killer live act too.

In January 2025, their third album 'The Cost of Loving Crisis' was released to their best reviews yet and the singles 'Get It Together' 'Barbara' and 'Out of Line' scored staggering amounts of airplay on rock radio stations such as Total Rock, Rock Radio UK, ERB and Amazing Radio. 'Out of Line' was selected from thousands of submissions to compete in the Kerrang! and Marshall-sponsored competition 'The Deal'.

The band have are currently mixing and mastering their fourth album "Infernow", which is their hardest-rocking set of songs so far. It is scheduled for release mid-2026.
