Mairi Kidd is an Edinburgh-based writer whose books include 'The Specimens', a Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month. She has a particular interest in forgotten women in history and her stories in the collection 'We are All Witches' formed the basis for the 'Heal and Harrow' project commemorating Scotland's witches in music, literature, film and through a podcast. Her new novel 'Newes of Witches' explores a fictional witch persecution in Sutherland in 1629. Mairi is a Gaelic speaker and often uses the language in her work.
