Notts Family Launch Party & Live Showcase

Saturday 17 October | 6pm-11pm | FREE ENTRY/Pay What You Feel

Notts Family celebrates its official launch with a night bringing together live music, fashion, art and Nottingham's independent creative community.

Built around the idea of 'The Outlaws of Design', Notts Family is a Nottingham-born clothing brand and creative project drawing inspiration from the city, its heritage, music, people and culture.

Born from four years of photography and videography across Nottingham, what started as documenting the city has grown into a clothing label and creative platform. Each drop is rooted in local culture, taking inspiration from the iconography, streets, architecture, venues, characters and scenes that shape Nottingham's evolving creative landscape.

More than a clothing brand, Notts Family is a space for collaboration. It exists to work with and spotlight local artists, musicians and creatives, bringing together different parts of Nottingham's culture and giving them a platform.

The launch party brings that ethos to life, with an eclectic line-up of Nottingham artists performing throughout the evening alongside a Notts Family pop-up shop, projections, lighting, photography and videography transforming Laceworks for the night.

Welcome to the Family.

Dusty 4 Track

Nottingham duo Dusty 4 Track bring together Will Jeffery and Benjamin James, creating their own distinctive take on alternative blues and folk, built around storytelling, bluesy riffs, soulful musicianship and a sound made for a live room.

After years of gigging across Nottingham, the duo released their debut album, How Did I Get Here?, celebrating its vinyl release with a packed-out show at Rough Trade Nottingham.

Reviewing the launch for LeftLion, editor Sophie Gargett said

"Will Jeffery's whiskey-and-honey soaked vocals, which I would happily eat straight from the jar with a spoon if it were possible."

She recommended the band to fans of Tom Waits, C.W. Stoneking and J.J. Cale, describing how their songs conjure up "arcane cinematic narratives" and praising How Did I Get Here? as "one of the most interesting albums to come out of Notts in a long time."

From the sun-soaked Metronome and soulful Stay to the rip-roaring Get Down, Dusty 4 Track are storytellers with plenty of grit, character and soul.

We're incredibly excited to have them playing for the Family.

Loud Planet Records: LVNDLXRD, Jimmy Rocket & Vandal Savage

Representing another side of Nottingham's music scene is Loud Planet Records, an independent Nottingham collective rooted in hip-hop and 140-influenced sounds.

Producer LVNDLXRD has formed a long-running creative partnership with rapper and MC Jimmy Rocket, with the pair releasing music together since at least 2020. Their Bespoke Verses project helped establish the partnership, with Vandal Savage among its collaborators.

Jimmy Rocket is a Nottingham rapper, MC and DJ whose work crosses hip-hop, rap and club music, while Vandal Savage is a Nottingham MC known for his direct lyricism and underground hip-hop output.

Together with LVNDLXRD, they represent a distinctive strand of Nottingham's independent music scene. Expect beats, bars and bass from three artists firmly rooted in the city's underground.

Nobody

One of the night's more mysterious acts, Nobody has been working with Notts Family behind the scenes, providing unreleased music as the soundtrack to the brand's videography and creative content.

A Nottingham-born producer with bass music in his veins, expect serious energy, electronic rhythms and sounds drawing on 140, dubstep and jungle influences.

This is a rare chance to hear some of the music that has helped shape the sound of Notts Family, brought out of the studio and into a live setting. Heavy, energetic and designed to have you hooked.

Nobody is definitely not anybody.

SJ Bravo

We're blessed with a DJ set from one of Nottingham's finest musicians. SJ Bravo is a producer, DJ and musician who'll be guiding us through the night with the sounds of French house and beyond. Expect everything from Justice and Daft Punk to plenty of unexpected turns along the way.

Fresh from smashing a set at Rough Trade Nottingham, and one of the driving forces behind the organisation of New Currents Festival, SJ Bravo is firmly embedded in Nottingham's independent music scene.

A musician, producer and selector with serious energy, SJ Bravo is a great addition to the Notts Family.

The Notts Family Pop-Up Shop

The launch isn't just about what's happening on stage. The clothes are a huge part of the night too.

The entire Notts Family collection is available to view online NOW, so you can explore the designs, find your favourites and get to know the collection ahead of the launch.

On the night, Laceworks will become a Notts Family pop-up shop and creative space, with a selection of garments available to see up close, try on and purchase.

As an independent project, we won't be bringing huge quantities of stock with us. There will be limited garments available to buy and take home on the night, but don't worry if the design, colour or size you want isn't there.

You'll be able to order anything from the full Notts Family collection at the event.

The garments bring together the photography, design and Nottingham references that have shaped the project from the beginning. Expect pieces influenced by the city's iconography, architecture, streets, venues, characters, heritage and creative culture, reworked through the distinctive Notts Family style.

So have a browse before you arrive, pick out your favourites and then come and see Notts Family in the real world.

Projections, Lighting & Videography

Notts Family began with a camera, so the visual side of the project is a major part of the launch.

Throughout the night, projections, lighting, photography and videography will transform Laceworks, creating a constantly changing visual backdrop to the music, performances and clothing.

Expect imagery captured across Nottingham, original Notts Family films and visuals projected throughout the venue, bringing together four years of documenting the city and the creative work that has grown from it.

Music and moving image have always gone hand in hand for Notts Family, with local artists providing the soundtrack to films and content created for the project. Nobody's unreleased productions are one example of that collaboration, and the launch brings those worlds together in the same room.

The night itself will also be captured through photography and videography, adding another chapter to the archive of Nottingham's people, places and culture that started Notts Family in the first place.

Music, moving image, clothing, photography and live performance. All under one roof.

Laceworks

The night takes place at Laceworks, part of ARC Space in Nottingham. Set within a restored former lace factory, the independent bar and venue champions the city's creative community through live music, open mic nights, comedy, DJs and other events.

It feels like the right home for a night dedicated to Nottingham's independent creative scene.

Sponsored by DropWorks Rum

The launch is proudly sponsored by Nottinghamshire's own DropWorks Rum, bringing another home-grown independent brand into the Notts Family.

Based on the historic Welbeck Estate on the edge of Sherwood Forest, DropWorks creates modern British rum entirely from scratch at what it describes as Europe's largest rum distillery. Its team ferments molasses using its own cultivated yeast strain before distilling on bespoke equipment and blending and maturing its rums on site.

Founded with a mission to challenge traditional ideas about rum, DropWorks launched in 2023 and has developed a range including Clear Drop, Dark Drop, Barrel Drop, Funk Drop and Spice Drop.

The distillery has also become a destination in its own right, with tours and tastings giving visitors the chance to get behind the scenes and discover how its rum is made.

It's a fitting partnership: two Nottinghamshire-born independents doing things differently and celebrating creativity on their own terms.

Join the Family

With live performances, DJ sets, the Notts Family pop-up shop, projections, lighting, photography and videography, the launch brings together everything that has shaped Notts Family so far.

It's a celebration of Nottingham creativity in all its forms, bringing musicians, producers, designers, artists, photographers and the wider creative community together under one roof.

Browse the collection. Come for the music. Meet the people behind it. Support Nottingham creativity.
