Reviews of Cullercoats Crescent Club in North Shields
Cullercoats Crescent Club venue information
The Crescent Club is situated facing Cullercoats beach and Harbour. The club came into existence in 1947 and is affiliated to the Club & Institute Union. The club serves the communities of Cullercoats, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth as a centre for conviviality and entertainment.
Cullercoats in the, 1800s and into the 1900s, was a centre for small boat fishing and has also been in its time an artist’s colony. One of the most famous artists, Winslow Homer, gave his name to the adjacent block of luxury flats, Winslow Court.
Another interesting fact is that if on Google Earth Cullercoats is selected only one hit is registered. Is it the only Cullercoats in the World?
The club has four function rooms:
Downstairs: MAIN BAR includes a darts board and a full size snooker table,
BUFFET includes a pool table and looks out over Cullercoats Bay,
Upstairs: CONCERT ROOM has a stage, music system, dance floor and facilities for showing films and presentations on a large screen,
SEAVIEW LOUNGE, the jewel in the crown, has magnificent views from Cullercoats Bay and Harbour to the Priory and the mouth of the Tyne
Although the Club does not, as yet, serve meals, snacks, hot and cold, are available.
The Club is members, CIU affiliates and guests only but is open, no membership required, on occasions throughout the year, especially on Bank Holiday weekends and the famous RNLI Harbour Day.
If you would like to be a member then present yourself to the Secretary between 12noon and 1am any Sunday and he will give you membership forms and explain the procedure.
The Club is dedicated to providing a pleasant setting for entertainment, table and board games and for meeting friends and enjoying a quiet drink.
