Defected’s Sam Divine plays an extended set at Joshua Brooks on Friday 11 September 2026 – the first night back in the basement after the biggest refurbishment the venue has had since 2021.

Sam Divine

Sam Divine is the flagship resident and radio host of Defected Records, the label she has been part of since 2008. She hosts the globally syndicated Defected Radio Show every week, was named Best House DJ at the 2024 DJ Awards in Ibiza, and was DJ Mag’s Ibiza cover star the same year. In 2026 she launched her own label and events brand, 555, and holds Ibiza residencies at Defected’s Chinois season and her own 555 nights at Cova Santa.

Her sound is soulful, uplifting, vocal-led house with disco running through it, which is exactly what the low brick-arched basement at Joshua Brooks was built for. No support and no changeover: one extended set, all night.

The room

Joshua Brooks has been a Manchester institution since 1993, and the basement hosted The Chemical Brothers back in their Dust Brothers days. It has just come through its biggest overhaul since the 2021 relaunch, with the DJ booth repositioned, a new lighting rig and the Void Acoustics system reset in the room. Rebuilt, not replaced.
