Joshua Brooks Remastered | Night One

Joshua Brooks reopens on 11 September 2026 after the biggest transformation the building has seen since it opened its doors in 1993. This is night one of the Remastered weekend, and the first chance to stand in the basement and see what has been done to it.

We are not telling you what has changed. No photos, no walkthroughs, no lineup announcement ahead of time. Everyone who comes through the door across the weekend finds out together, and everyone who reads about it afterwards will have missed it.

What we can say is this. The venue was rebuilt once already in 2021, when the current team took the building on and brought it back from the brink after lockdown. That refit gave Manchester its bricked arches back, put a Void Acoustics system in the basement and set up the calendar of house, disco, techno and drum and bass nights that has run every weekend since. This time the work goes further than that.

Joshua Brooks has spent more than three decades as one of Manchester's most important underground clubs, a small room on Princess Street where the city's dance music history was made and keeps being made. Remastered is not a rebrand and it is not a relaunch under a new name. It is the same club, the same address, rebuilt to a higher standard for the people who never stopped coming.

If you have ever ended up somewhere in this city at two in the morning and wondered how you got there, this is the correction. Same brick, same basement, more of everything else.
