Joshua Brooks Basement

About

Dart and Surf 2 Glory bring their own brands of high-tempo, hands-in-the-air house to the Joshua Brooks basement on Friday 25 September, with support from Emerald Groove. Doors at ten, through until four.

Dart has become one of the names driving the hard house resurgence. 'Always & Forever', his collaboration with Kyle Starkey, landed on Norman Cook's Southern Fried Records and has been a permanent fixture in both artists' sets since, picking up support from DJ Heartstring, Pegassi, Malugi and Benwal along the way. 'Emergency', out on Agrio Tracks, works the same territory: fast, euphoric and built for a room that wants to be moved rather than impressed.

Surf 2 Glory come at it from a different angle. The Berlin pair deal in pop-electro and organ house, pulling the best bits of the nineties and the early two thousands into something that feels current rather than nostalgic. 'FAF' arrived on Club Heart Broken with a Maruwa remix on the flip, and their rework of SoFTT's 'Quiero ser sexy' is the kind of record that turns a room over in thirty seconds.

Emerald Groove opens up.

The basement is the right room for this. Low ceilings, bricked arches and a Void Acoustics rig that holds the low end without flattening the top, which matters when the records are this fast and this bright.

Fast, melodic, hands-up house in a Manchester basement. Doors 10pm, last entry 11:30pm.
