About

Aviary Promotions presents: Full Folk Shebang! The event is a showcase of contemporary folk artists in the Manchester music scene at Fuel Café, with music from Zak Alexander, Rebecca Spooner, Doghouse, and Wordstrain.

Read a bit more about the line-up...

Zak Alexander

Music is one of the purest forms of expression. Drawing inspiration from contemporary folk and indie, Zak Alexander writes music as a way to help him better understand his surroundings, and process his life around him.

Rebecca Spooner

Rebecca Spooner is a 20-year-old English singer-songwriter and producer. Combining elements of folk-infused pop and acoustic indie, she writes and performs raw and honest songs, embedding themes of love and loss, fears and futures, and suchlike human experiences. Her unique songwriting style intertwines emotive vocals and poignant lyricism, and has often been compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling, with hints of Jeff Buckley.

Doghouse

Doghouse is a Manchester-based folk artist, blending melancholic, deadpan lyricism with intricate fingerpicked guitar.

Wordstrain

Wordstrain is a singer songwriter who writes a mix of folk, country, and indie rock music, with some midwest emo influences. You can catch them performing with a pianist, a violinist and musical saw player on occasion. Together they create ghostly, haunting arrangements, along some upbeat, folk tunes, with deeply personal lyrics about climbing through someone's window and having a fever (metaphorically, for the most part). They are in the process of recording their first single which will be out this year.
