Review of SOULTASIA - Kent 2023
i love the atmosphere and Guest Djs . Uncle funk Disco inferno were good as well as Kenny Thomas and Gabrielle.
Unfortunately I did purchase the early bird ticket way back in November 2022. On the pretense of seeing my favorite bands Heatwave and the Real Thing.
But was very disappointed when The real thing was only represented by 1 member who sang 2 of their hits Karaoke style for 10 mins approx. I appreciate he said that his other member was taken ill the night before and couldn't walk but what happened to the rest of the band .Plus there was no mention of this incident on their website later.
Plus I was expecting Heatwave to have a LIVE BAND too no just backing recorded tracks.
I do expect when going to a concert to see and listen to a LIVE BAND.
otherwise could just be PA's from Artists with DJ playing the tracks as backing with no vocals.
i also thought that the pricing for Drinks and food was overpriced into todays climate. With no option to increase a spirit to a double for a small extra cost as like most other venues and pubs do without having to pay double as you don't need the mixer again.

Was really disappointed with only 1 stage of music. Having paid extra for V.I.P we got closer to the stage, however, the intervals between acts was excessively long. Kenny Thomas was Outstanding but missed a large part of his show due to the extremely long queues for the 3 remaining food vendors with the Jerk Chicken sold out by 7:25pm.
Limited VIP experience, long bar queue, nice toilet. Wouldn’t rebook again next year compared to other Soul festival events we’ve been to.

Usually I tend to see the good things only, but not here. It wasn't what I was expecting to be in a Oktoberfest. First, no proper and traditional German food. And definitely not pizza! Not many choices of beer, knowing that Germans do have many good beers. The alcohol was extremely over priced. And £2 deposit for a piece of plastic, aka beer cup? And we couldn't bring them back to get the deposit back, so where is the sustainability here? They went straight into the bin, as the quality was poor. No German-Bavarian music whatsoever. Left after 1 hour and won't be coming back again.

A lot to like about this event. Having decided to take a table in the VIP it was great to be at the front, with separate toilets and an alternative bar to go to. All good touches. The music was exactly what was needed for the event, and the atmosphere was great.
If I was going to offer some feedback for improvement. In the VIP area, it would be great if you had some kind of table service, and the options available (bar and toilets) should be highlighted when you arrive. We were allowed to find out for ourselves. The food felt very separate. I think you would have a bigger take up on the food and potentially take care of some of those who over-drink if the food was more part of the event, and once again even table service of some kind.
Great overall, bar staff in particular were brilliant and will come again but for £280 it would be nice to feel a little more special.

We’ve been coming for several years since it first opened. The offering was very limited in terms of food. There was nothing additional to do , previously there was fair ground rides and more food options. The atmosphere felt very flat, you made a killing on the booze as that’s the only way we remotely enjoyed ourselves just getting drunk

My friends and I have been going to Oktoberfest in mote park for the past 5 years and it has been great. However, this year - even though they have removed the ridiculous voucher system, we found it to be very overpriced. £14 for a 2 pint stein was the most expensive it has ever been, especially as we paid for a ticket to enter! Also, there were a lot of empty tables during the day session, this might have been due to the event being advertised only a few months before it actually happened. Music was good but not as good as previous years, with very little crowd interaction etc. This lead to a lacklustre vibe compared to previous years. I'd like to go again but I can't help thinking it will be an even more expensive cash grab, for a captive audience.

Cheap tickets and average music. Extremely loose ties to an Oktoberfest event considering the majority of the music was in no way an Oktobest fest vibe. The Alcohol was extremely over- priced. I’d recommend going to Bierkeller in Maidstone instead!

Shambles. Left after 45 mins three choices of drink. Food was severely lacking “currywurst” was chips and curry sauce that you’d get from your local chippy. And the music was just covers of radio songs with the singer in a lederhosen

Charged what they felt like for a drink security were rude didn’t know what they was doing ask me to leave the event and when asked what I have done they couldn’t tell me first time going and will be the last over all s**t experience
