Review of Buck\' N Bull Saloon presents Southern Saturdays
My husband and I had a fantastic night, unlike the over reviews we found the organisers really friendly and chatty as were the bar staff. I do agree the venue was not the best it was a little rough and ready, and VERY SWEATY, and the dance area was pretty small not ideal for throwing some shapes around on the dance floor! The security was a little OTT a very scary woman got me to remove everything out of my teeny tiny bag then went through it with a torch, not sure what she was expecting to find as the bag was tint...she did confiscate my chewing gum so I would definitely blame her for my vodka infused breath at 2am! Also on leaving the security men were extremely rude, brash and unfriendly. Totally unnecessary in my opinion however we still had a fab time!
We missed the food and rodeo but all in all a really fun night, with fab people, country fans and dj Baylon never fails! This was temporary venue and all start ups have teething problems so we will definitely be supporting the buck n bull gang again!

The BBQ was not as advertised (no chicken) was not well run & poor quality. Drinks seemed expensive - no American beer! The venue was interesting, but not brilliant for large numbers - which was not a problem as there were approx. 60 in the bar area listening to the music. The band were a reasonable standard, but were not playing Country music! In fact at one point the singer announced "this is the only country type song we do".Several people near us, moved off saying this wasn't what was expected. The staff were friendly (apart from one Security woman, who cleared the bar, as soon as the music finished in rather an aggressive fashion) we were pleased that there was a search carried out as we arrived. All a bit disappointing.

Something different - and super fun!
I had so much fun at this first Southern Saturdays event. It had great live music from Two Ways Home (contemporary country wouldn't normally be my first choice of genre but the band were fantastic) and superb entertainment, with both a rodeo bull competition and line dancing taster sessions - what more could you want for a summer's evening of fun! There were a few minor issues with the venue but they certainly didn't affect my overall enjoyment of what was a top night out. It's my understanding this is a temporary venue for Southern Saturdays, so can only see things getting even better in the future. Would definitely recommend - whether you're a lover of country or not - and will hopefully be attending again!

As my first time at any country event or any event like this in London I had a great time hanging out with my friends and some pretty awesome people. Line dancing was such fun.
Wish you all the luck for the next event and who knows i could be back!

Amazing night and well planned and run. Music was incredible and haven't had so much fun in a long time!
Food wasn't brilliant though and limited choice of beers, but didn't detract from the atmosphere, friendly country music fans and music! See you at the next one!!

I know this was the first Buck' N Bull so it is a learning curve, but venue didn't really work. It was so hot and we needed the option of outside area as inside was unbearable. From 10 the outside area reduced dramatically to a very small smoking area, which wasn't pleasant. We usually party until 2, but so hot that we had to leave at midnight. Drink prices expensive, bar staff weren't friendly. However the line dancing was great and so was the DJ. I would go again, but not to that venue.

Buck and Bull Saloon launched Southern Saturday's at Vauxhall Arches with Two Ways Home as their live act. This included a Southern BBQ, a saddle up bull riding competition, line dancing and a DJ. Festivities to go on until 2.00am. Funny how there's a curfew on live music but DJ and disco are allowed to go on till the early hours of the morning.
We were one of a select few who got there early to take in the atmosphere. A relatively small outdoor area on artificial grass with a lady manning the BBQ point, the bull ring to the far end and a poor guy looking totally bored in charge of the cloak room area and on a hot night like this night - there was no cloak. Trains were seen crossing the above bridge towards Vauxhall.
Security, as you might imagine was tight, so tight that without ID Tasha would not get in. Fortunately their was parental control and on observation I seemed to be the oldest and Natasha the youngest. Tasha did go on the bucking Bull ride and was lucky to stay on for ten seconds. Just as well I never went on it as I would have bounced off the inflated surround and bounced straight out into the artificial grass upon dismount. No wi-fi/internet
As I said security was paramount. barriers all the way in, airport style metal detector to walk through, thorough bag search, food and drink confiscated. OK fine, leave my drink at the entry point for redemption on exit, I refuse to pay for any food and drink on the premises at so over inflated prices. If I faint from dehydration and lack of food sue the venue for total incompetence. It will happen. I hate these club venues. One day I'll just turn up in swimming trunks..
Quite a bit of a wait before TWH start their set of eleven songs. The area they were playing in was large and deep within the arches with a nice walled area of lights which flashed the words Two Ways Home. Caught a bit of the sound check and thought. 'If this is going to be the same garbled sound I heard like last night with Too Tangled I'm not going to enjoy it. Added to the fact that it is a club venue and chat would be at it's maximum. Why can't people shut up for 45 minutes is beyond my comprehension. Go there and chat thru a set then clap after every song I find disrespectful.
Lewis and Isi had their full band with them. Michael Clancy on electric guitar, Domink Told on bas and Jake Stanton replacing Chris Bryce on drums. Can't fault their set. Songs I love in yet other versions and the most welcomed return of Isi's auto-harp. TWH started the set with title track off their new EP "Closest Strangers". Finished with "Just For Now" and in the middle favourites "Still In Love", "Push and Pull" and a cover of Hunter Hayes' "I Want Crazy". TWH have a habit of doing covers I had never heard although I could see Natasha on the opposite side of the stage mouthing the words.
Got a chance to talk to Dominik at the end but security ushered everybody out of the room quickly so were unable to say a proper goodbye and thanks to Isi and Lewis. Neither was there a chance for anybody to buy their merch altho I was already wearing one of their T-shirts. Unable to use the toilet at that end of the venue (bar had closed!), also unable to get outside for fresh air we were all ushered through to several small claustrophobic rooms where you could hardly see the line dancing going on, or the other even smaller claustrophobic space where the bar and DJ were blaring out Country Music.
The air was heavy this night with no ventilation inside visible. Add to this the low roof you have a recipe for disaster. An accident waiting to happen. If there were a bomb blast or fire rest assured NO ONE will get out of here alive. Why? No signs for the exits were displayed not even fire escapes. It took ages for Natasha and I to find the exit and get out into some fresh air. If anyone is reading this from Buck and Bull please take notice. But then all clubs seem to be arranged like this. Sorry, I do not feel 100% safe is this type of venue and environment.
The men's toilets were a shambles. All cubicles had wet on the floor. The toilet at the far end had an attendant who even wanted me to supply some money on a collection plate. That disgusted me. Clubs and me do not get on, period. I do not drink because I want to stop diabetis in its tracks and have no conversational skills, I like my music end of. That said Tash and I only wanted to see TWH. We were never interested in BBQs, Bull riding or DJ Nashville style.

Great atmosphere, great music and dancing - a truly authentic country music event! Would thoroughly recommend to anyone, country music fan or not for a great night out!

Really good night :) music was great and awesome atmosphere. Could have done with more variety across rooms, but overall was awesome. Only real problem was that the venue was hard to find: there weren't any signs up, and directions given by organiser were pretty vague. Would definitely go again though now I know where I'm going!

Good idea. However too small an outside space once it was closed off. Very expensive bar. Couldn't get tap water. Not enough bar staff. Need better signage for exits and outside areas. Music was great but I expected that from Baylen
