The Standard Of Living

About The Standard of Living

The Standard of Living at Theatre Royal Haymarket is a world-premiere play by James Graham, opening in the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season from 21 September. Directed by Nicholas Hytner, it stars Rory Kinnear and Natalia Osipova in her West End debut.

The play tells the story of John Maynard Keynes, the rebel economist and member of the Bloomsbury Group. It moves between Whitehall and a circle of artists, writers and lovers, with music, dance, desire and debate running through the production.

As markets crash and Britain teeters on the edge of chaos, Keynes is drawn towards one question: what is a good life? The play brings politics, personal relationships and ideas about happiness, beauty and love together on stage.
