About

About The Standard of Living

The Standard of Living at the Theatre Royal Haymarket is a brand new world-premiere play by James Graham. It opens in the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season and is directed by Nicholas Hytner.

Starring Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear and Royal Ballet principal Natalia Osipova in her West End debut, the play follows economist John Maynard Keynes as he moves between Whitehall and a radical circle of artists, writers and lovers. It is set against markets crashing, old systems breaking down and Britain edging towards chaos.

The production uses music, dance, desire and debate to tell Keynes’ story as he considers what a good life really is, alongside his roles as husband to ballerina Lydia Lopokova, lover to Duncan Grant and friend to Virginia Woolf.

Age guidance: Suggested for ages 12+.

Before you book

Natalia Osipova will not be appearing at performances on Friday 16 October, Wednesday 21 October and Wednesday 4 November, or at the matinee and evening performances on Thursday 22 October and Thursday 5 November.
