The Standard of Living at Theatre Royal Haymarket is a brand new world-premiere play by Olivier Award-winning playwright James Graham. It tells the story of economist and member of the Bloomsbury Group John Maynard Keynes, moving between Whitehall and a circle of artists, writers and lovers as Britain faces economic turmoil.
Directed by multi award-winner Nicholas Hytner, the production stars Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear and Royal Ballet principal Natalia Osipova in her West End debut. It runs in the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season and brings together music, dance, desire and debate.
The play follows Keynes as markets crash, old systems crumble and he is driven to ask what a good life is.
