About The Standard of Living

The Standard of Living at the Theatre Royal Haymarket is a brand new world-premiere play by Olivier Award-winning playwright James Graham, directed by multi award-winner Nicholas Hytner. It is set for a strictly limited West End season.

The play tells the story of rebel economist and Bloomsbury Group member John Maynard Keynes, moving between Whitehall and a circle of artists, writers and lovers that includes Lydia Lopokova, Duncan Grant and Virginia Woolf. It presents Keynes as he navigates power, politics and a changing Britain.

With music, dance, desire and debate woven through the story, the play centres on Keynes’s question about what makes a good life.

Suggested for ages 12+. No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase. Natalia Osipova will not appear at the evening performances on Friday 16 October, Wednesday 21 October and Wednesday 4 November, or at the matinee and evening performances on Thursday 22 October and Thursday 5 November.

Access bookings are managed via the Theatre Royal Haymarket Digital Access Pass. If a customer has a Nimbus/Access card and the additional ticket is not for a mobility issue, any price can be selected except Premiums: one ticket is paid at full price and the +1 ticket is free, processed as two tickets at half price. Customers who are disabled due to mobility, or who are deaf or visually impaired, can be offered Stalls seats at £25, excluding Premiums, subject to internal allocation. There are four held seats in the centre of Stalls D for visual or hearing needs, four pairs on the aisles for mobility needs, and two wheelchair spaces.
