About
About Woody Sez: The Life & Times of Woody Guthrie
Woody Sez: The Life & Times of Woody Guthrie tells the true story of Woody Guthrie, the American songwriter the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame describes as “the original folk hero”. The show follows the colourful life behind the songs, tracing how Guthrie transformed the folk ballad into a vehicle for social protest and observation.
Its focus is on Guthrie’s radical influence and on songs of defiance, hope and resilience that continue to inspire later storytelling songwriters. This gives the event a clear musical and biographical focus for anyone interested in folk music and American cultural history.
