The Seagull at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is Chekhov's twentieth century classic, with Caroline Steinbeis directing and Rory Mullarkey translating. It is the first of Chekhov's four major plays and is inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet.
The play follows an actress, her lover, her playwright son and an aspiring performer in a house by a lake. What begins as a play within a play turns into a study of art, ego and love.
This production brings together one of Chekhov's best-known works with a setting and story built around creative ambition and complicated relationships.
This play features suicide and animal cruelty, with references to child bereavement. Children under 3 do not require a ticket.
No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase.
