

The Seagull at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is Chekhov’s twentieth-century classic and the first of his four major plays. Set in a house by a lake, it follows an actress, her lover, her playwright son and an aspiring performer as a play within a play becomes a story about art, ego and love.
Caroline Steinbeis and Rory Mullarkey return to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as director and translator. The play is inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
