What begins as a play within a play becomes a story about art, ego and love. By the end, it asks what is left behind when the curtain falls.
Caroline Steinbeis and Rory Mullarkey return to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as director and translator of Chekhov’s twentieth century classic, which was inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet and is the first of his four major plays.
