About The Animals Come to the Table

The Animals Come to the Table is a world premiere at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Written by Timberlake Wertenbaker, the play is created for the candlelit theatre space and brings her work to the stage in a new production.

When the lights go out, a negotiator and an interpreter are called to a secret emergency meeting. Waiting for them are a chicken, a rat, a snow leopard and an army of voices from the natural world, demanding an end to exploitation and ecological destruction.

The play brings together politics, wit, philosophy and mischief as it imagines humanity being asked to answer back.
