Julius Caesar 2027

About Julius Caesar 2027

Julius Caesar 2027 at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse places Shakespeare’s political tragedy in the intimate, candlelit setting of the theatre. Taking place in the corridors of the Senate, the story follows a murderous plot as concerns grow over the ambition of dictator Julius Caesar.

As public opinion turns against Caesar’s enemies, political infighting escalates into civil war. The production presents friendship, betrayal and political violence through Shakespeare’s text, with Joe Hill-Gibbins returning to direct after Ghosts at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

This production is described as a brutal and timely tale, and the candlelit staging adds to the close-up atmosphere of the performance.
