Cinderella returns to Sadler’s Wells Theatre this Christmas for New Adventures’ 30th Anniversary celebration of Matthew Bourne’s production. Set in London during the Second World War, it follows a wartime romance between Cinderella and a young RAF pilot, whose meeting leads to a magical night before they are separated by the Blitz.
The production features Lez Brotherston’s Olivier Award-winning designs, Neil Austin’s Olivier Award-winning lighting, video and projection design by Duncan McLean, and sound design by Paul Groothuis, set against Prokofiev’s score and the sights and sounds of war-torn London.
Matthew Bourne’s interpretation presents the classic fairytale as a tribute to London during wartime, with storytelling centred on love, loss and the pressures of a city under bombardment.
Running time: 2 hours 20 minutes, including 2 intervals.
Age guidance: strictly no under 5s. Some scenes may not be suitable for very young children.
The production includes smoke/haze, possible strobe lighting in brief blasts, explosions, loud noises, sirens and smoking.
Refunds and exchanges: no exchanges or refunds after purchase.
