Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre is set in Hawkins, 1959, before the world turned upside down. The story follows young Jim Hopper, Bob Newby and Joyce Maldonado, while new student Henry Creel arrives and the town’s ordinary worries begin to shift.

Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, the production uses theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to explore the early story behind Stranger Things. It returns to the beginning of the series’ world and connects that setting with the events to come.

The show has received five-star reviews from The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Standard.

Running time: Approx 3 hrs including an interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended 12+. Under 5s are not permitted. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

Plan your visit: The venue opens 90 minutes before the start time. Please arrive by 30 minutes before the start. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable point, which may be the interval. The production contains gunfire audio, loud noises, explosions, haze, smoke, flashing lights and strobe, strong language, and depictions of mental health conditions and disorders.
