About Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre is set in Hawkins, 1959, before the world turned upside down. The story follows a town with familiar problems: young Jim Hopper’s car will not start, Bob Newby’s sister does not take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado wants to graduate and leave town.

When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family discovers that a fresh start is not so simple. Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, this production uses theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to take the Stranger Things story back to the beginning.

Before you book

Recommended for ages 12+. Under 5s are not permitted. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. The production contains gunfire audio, loud noises, explosions, haze, smoke, flashing lights and strobe, strong language, and depictions of mental health conditions and disorders.

The venue opens 90 minutes before the start time. Please arrive by 30 minutes before the performance begins. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable point, which may be the interval.
