Amadeus returns to the Noël Coward Theatre in London in the first revival of Peter Shaffer’s play in over a decade. Set in Vienna in 1820, it follows a respected composer as he makes a shocking confession, with the story driven by ambition, faith and the cost of greatness.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the production is shaped by some of the greatest music ever written. It centres on the tension between talent and genius, and on the relationship between Salieri and Mozart as devotion turns to betrayal.
This staging also marks the first time two Welsh actors have taken on these roles, with Michael Sheen as Salieri and Callum Scott Howells as Mozart.
