Amadeus at the Noël Coward Theatre, London, brings Peter Shaffer’s play back to the West End in its first revival in over a decade. Set in Vienna in 1820, it centres on a respected composer whose shocking confession drives the story.
Fuelled by some of the greatest music ever written, the play explores ambition, faith, devotion, betrayal and the cost of greatness. It places talent and genius in direct conflict, with the relationship between Salieri and Mozart at the heart of the drama.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin, this production marks the first major revival of the play in over a decade. It also brings Michael Sheen and Callum Scott Howells to the roles of Salieri and Mozart.
