The Children at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is Lucy Kirkwood’s darkly funny drama set after a catastrophe. Hazel and Robin are living on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone, trying to maintain a sense of normal life through routines such as yoga and brewing parsnip wine, until their old friend Rose arrives with memories, secrets and a proposition that tests their loyalties and their responsibilities to the next generation.

This 10th anniversary production is directed by Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan and stars Olivier Award-nominated Meera Syal as Hazel. The production brings together the play’s domestic detail, moral tension and dark humour in a clear, character-led staging.
