At Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Fences is August Wilson's landmark play set in 1950s Pittsburgh. Troy Maxson has cheated death once, but the past keeps closing in. At home, the pressure is building around Troy, his wife Rose and their son Cory.
Rose sees a changing world and hopes Cory can step into it with more freedom than Troy ever had. As dreams collide and tempers flare, the family moves towards a reckoning that could reshape everything they know.
Directed by award-winning Daniel Bailey (Red Pitch, West End), this new production returns to a story by August Wilson, one of America's most influential 20th-century writers.
