About Fences
Fences at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre presents August Wilson’s landmark play, set in 1950s Pittsburgh. Troy Maxson has survived more than one hard blow, but at home the pressure is building as his wife Rose tries to hold the family together and their son Cory looks towards a future with more freedom than Troy has known.
Directed by award-winning Daniel Bailey (Red Pitch, West End), this new production returns Wilson’s story of ambition, family tension and changing expectations to the stage. Wilson is one of America’s most influential 20th-century writers.
Suitable for ages 14+.
