The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, 166 Drury Lane, London, is a West End production based on the television format The Traitors. Written by multi-award-winning John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie, it presents a cycle of five plays centred on murder, banishment, betrayal and shifting alliances.
From Monday to Friday, each performance begins in the same way before developing into a different story depending on who is chosen as the Traitors. Each version stands alone as a complete drama, with characters who are banished or murdered early in one play able to reach the end in another.
On Saturdays, the audience decides which version is staged, making each performance part of a wider set of five linked plays.
Key facts: Five different plays run each week, all starting from the same premise before diverging into separate outcomes. On Saturdays, the audience vote determines which version is performed.
Suitable for ages 8 years and older, with parental discretion advised. Children under 4, including babes in arms, will not be admitted. Anyone aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over and may not sit on their own in the auditorium. Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.
From 11 May to 7 June, the booking calendar uses coloured shields to show which play is scheduled; performances with the same colour share the same version. From 9 June, there is a different play each weekday from Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays the audience vote decides the version staged. Content includes flashing lights, smoke, haze and some mild violence. Latecomers may not be admitted to the auditorium until a suitable point in the performance, which may be the interval.
