About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one summer, telling a coming-of-age story shaped by childhood imagination and a magical fantasy world.

The production is a collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, adapted by Tom Morton-Smith and presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi. It has won six Olivier Awards and is a record-breaking staging of a much-loved story.

Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age recommendation is 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years old, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.

All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with the child and accompany them throughout the visit. Children need to occupy their own seat at all times, all persons entering the theatre must have a valid ticket, and single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.

The show features large puppets that may interact in audience space, live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children, and themes of an ill parent in hospital. It is the customer’s responsibility to check suitability for any children in their party.
