About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one summer, with a story centred on childhood, imagination and fantasy.

This record-breaking production has won six Olivier Awards and is presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV. It is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith and is described as a five-star staging of the film.

Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: recommended for ages 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted to the auditorium.

All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times, and all persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.

Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. It also includes themes of an ill parent in hospital. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
