About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This production brings Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated feature to the stage in a version created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, with the Royal Shakespeare Company and executive producer Joe Hisaishi.

It is a record-breaking, award-winning production and winner of six Olivier Awards. The story follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei, as it explores childhood, imagination and a magical fantasy world.

The performance runs for 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age recommendation is 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms, and children under 4 will not be admitted. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit. Every person entering the theatre, مهما age, must have a valid ticket, and children must occupy their own seat at all times.

Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The production features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in the audience space, live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. It also contains themes of an ill parent in hospital. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
