My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre is the West End stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film. Created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, it is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith and produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company with executive producer Joe Hisaishi.

The story follows sisters Satsuki and Mei during one extraordinary summer, as childhood imagination opens into a magical fantasy world. The production has won six Olivier Awards and returned to London as a record-breaking West End hit.

This performance runs for 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: recommended for ages 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times without assistance.

Tickets and seating: everyone entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.

Content notes: the show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, plus live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and may be scary for some younger children. It also includes themes of an ill parent in hospital.
